Tawfiq was the son of Hanna Nahhat and brother of George Hanna. Although not as prolific as his brother he created some excellent ouds. His label also appears in other people's ouds, apparently to indicate repairs that he performed. Although his label carried his name and picture, his Shamsiyas often said 'Ikhwan Nahhat'
